But Donna's story starts on a small farm in Winchester, Kentucky, where she grew up the youngest of eleven children. Her father was a logger and her mother kept the home running — cooking, canning, churning butter, and raising a strong family rooted in faith and hard work. Donna was baptized in a creek at age nine and still draws strength from her deep faith in Jesus Christ.

Said county funding priorities should focus on the greatest needs, including roads, emergency services, water, and fire services.

Speaker: 17:44
I want to go back to that question of money and affordability. That was kind of one of the first things I was thinking about when you answered my first question. This is really an election about money. It's about money. We're not having moral issues on the this is you know, this is not a really um complicated election in terms of the issues that people are thinking about. Now, federal issues are really where inflation and affordability start.
You know, it kind of starts with our economic policies federally, but there are ways that local leaders can impact people's pocketbooks. So I I was just making that observation that this is really about money. And I wanted to give you an opportunity to just kind of give me your thoughts on that, and then we're gonna talk about something else.
Speaker 1: 18:30
Sure. Dollars that have come to our county. How do we advocate for the citizens? And how do we decide what those issues are that we find worthy of advocating for? The roads, emergency, water, fire. You know, when you advocate with legislators in in Frankfurt and you know there's money on the table, man, you know, that's that's powerful. So you want to make sure that you know where the greatest need is, and that's that's what you go for.
I mean, there's there's studies that show you what's the highest priority. Of course that's what you would do. You know, where's the highest traffic spots? Of course that's what you would do.

Donna Agee (R) is On the Edge

You have to look at every citizen as in this county and look at running this county like you do your home. If you don't have the money, you can't spend it. If you've if it's something's broke, you have to fix that before you go get the next new shiny thing. So that's what I would do differently. I would have come to the table, gotten input. You know, who knows what gift would have come out of that? You know, maybe someone would have donated property. You know, now we've had fundraisers.

Said she would lead transparently, seek resident input, work with the county's governing board, and prioritize the county's needs.

"One of the first things is to truly have a transparent leadership-style and let the citizens have a voice, work with the fiscal court, and truly just look at the needs of this county and address those first and just work forward with some smart growth infrastructure and take care of the urgent things that need taken care of in our county."

Donna Agee thanks voters, shares her reaction to her judge-executive primary win

Well, of course, when you're given the money, you you have to put it somewhere in the beginning. But I think you can't have that plan without input from the citizens, you know, and and because there's been a whole family that lives in an area with a business. They were gonna put the new animal shelter in their backyard of their property and and their business. And they they came and petitioned the court and said, please don't do this.

And I've heard, I know they say, well, there's a third shift.
But if you have them in the evening, that's when all the traffic, everybody's out in traffic for a reason because they're getting off work, but you can have you they have two a month, you could do one early, one later, you know, that kind of thing.

Said she uses staff meetings to seek employee input and resolutions for workplace issues.

Right. Absolutely. And I've done that again my entire career. There's a reason when when I have every team meeting, staff meeting, I say at the end, tell uh questions, do you have the tools to your to do your job? Question, what what can you are the experts, your boots on the ground? What can we do to improve your what's going on, the outcome? All quality improves by having meetings where people bring issues to the table. Sure, bring an issue. And I love this uh mentality.
If you have bring an issue, bring a resolution. When you bring people to the table, bring your issue and bring a resolution. And out of those, man, that's how you come up with the best ideas.
