Said the clerk's office follows state voting statutes and regularly consults the Kentucky State Board of Elections.

Jessamine County Clerk Johnny Collier said his office regularly communicates with the Kentucky State Board of Elections and follows state statutes governing elections. “We don’t have any problems. We do exactly what the state statutes tell us to do with voting. We talk to the state board of elections quite often,” Collier said.

Jessamine County clerk defends election security, accuracy

Conducts ballot-scanner testing before every election to promote “integrity and transparency” in the voting process.

On Monday morning, Jessamine County Clerk Johnny Collier and the county's Board of Elections tested their scanners at Harp Enterprises, which is an equipment vendor for many of Kentucky's counties. “Check the tech.” That’s what Sec. of State Michael Adams says happens before every single election in KY. County clerks are required to test every scanner (the machine that tabulates the votes) used in their counties. Today, @LEX18News got to watch Jessamine Co. test theirs. The first is that the scanners are set to zero. That means no other ballots have been recorded in the primary so far. The second is that the scanners accurately record and tabulate the test ballots. This helps ensure that votes are counted correctly. "We do this every election," said Collier. "And it's just to provide integrity and transparency to the voting process."
