Jason J. Deal 

Jason Jonathan Deal has a bachelor's degree from Furman University and a law degree from the University of Georgia. 

Jason currently serves as a superior court judge. He was first elected in 2005.

Jason previously served as the district attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit, a magistrate judge for the Hall County Magistrate court, an assistant district attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit, a county attorney for Dawson County, and as an associate with the law firm of Thompson, Fox, Chandler, Homans, Hicks & McKennon. Jason is a veteran of the U.S. Army.

As superior court judge, oversees cases involving criminal felonies, the administration of wills and estates, evictions of renters, and divorce proceedings, and exercises authority to review and correct the rulings of lower courts.

As a district attorney, prosecuted civil and criminal actions under state law and presented cases before grand juries.

As a magistrate court judge, held preliminary hearings in minor criminal cases, oversaw civil suits and the recovery of personal property, and issued search and arrest warrants.

As an assistant district attorney, prosecuted civil and criminal cases under state law on behalf of the district attorney’s office, supervised legal and clerical staff, and conducted interviews with victims and witnesses in ongoing cases.

- Georgia Superior Court Judges hear a wide range of criminal cases from petty theft and public drunkenness to murder. Some cases in front of the Georgia Superior Court involve the death penalty. 
- On the civil side, Superior Court Judges hear cases on divorce, titles to land, contract disputes, and premises liability. 
- Superior Court Judges are elected by judicial circuit. Each county surrounding Atlanta has its own judicial circuit, while rural judicial districts typically consist of multiple counties.
