Walter Ley

Cheveda Delieth McCamy is from Covington, Georgia. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Georgia and a law degree from Mercer University. She and her husband, Marcellus, have two children. She is an active member of Springfield Baptist Church.

Cheveda is a judge for the Alcovy Judicial Circuit. She has been on the bench since October 2020. Before taking the bench, she worked as a prosecutor and in private practice. She served as an assistant district attorney in Fulton, DeKalb, and Henry Counties, where she prosecuted felony cases, including murder and drug trafficking. She also worked as an associate attorney for an insurance defense firm and a general practice firm. Additionally, she managed her own law practice, where she handled criminal law, family law, personal injury, estate planning, and real estate cases. She has also taught torts and criminal law to paralegal students at Atlanta Metropolitan Technical College.

Cheveda is currently a Superior Court Judge for the Alcovy Circuit. She was appointed in 2020. Before her appointment, she practiced law for more than 20 years.

Has 20 years of legal experience and has served as a judge for Newton and Walton Counties since 2020.

As chief assistant district attorney, supervised over 40 employees,  prosecuted civil and criminal cases under state law on behalf of the district attorney,  provided legal counsel and assistance to law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of criminal and civil laws,  presented evidence and provided testimony in court proceedings,  conducted interviews with victims and witnesses in ongoing cases, and  reviewed and authorized charges in criminal and civil actions.

As an assistant district attorney, prosecuted cases of murder, child molestation, rape, drug trafficking, armed robbery, public corruption, and gangs.
