Sandra G. Scott earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and a master's degree in early childhood education and teaching from Armstrong State University. She lives with her husband, Edward, and they have one child and one grandchild. Sandra attends Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church.

Sandra works as an educator for the Dekalb Board of Education. She served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant.

Sandra currently serves as the District 76 representative of the Georgia House of Representatives. She was first elected in 2010. Sandra previously served on the Clayton County Board of Education. She served one term from 2008 to 2010.
