She later started her own firm and practiced as a trial attorney for over 25 years. In 2017, she merged her firm with Fox Legal, LLC, where she serves as of-counsel. Phyllis is also an adjunct professor at Georgia State University College of Law.

Sponsors a Traffic Violators Impact Program (TVIP) in her courtroom every month.The TVIP program is dedicated to reducing traffic violations and deaths due to car crashes through education and awareness. What is shared is a wake-up call to all who experience the program about their own driving habits, and hopefully, the experience will change their way of thinking when behind the wheel.
