Scott Michael Orenstein earned his associate's degree in drafting from Valdosta Technical College and his bachelor's degree in organizational leadership from Valdosta State University. He lives with his wife, Lynn, and their two children in Georgia, and attends CrossPoint Church.

Scott currently serves as a Lowndes County commissioner, representing District 2. He was first elected in 2018 and is in his second term. 

Scott owns South Georgia Construction and Consulting. He previously worked as a hostage negotiator, firearm training officer, and an operations analyst at the Valdosta State Prison.
