Rowland mayor, commissioners sworn to office | Robesonian

Robert is the current mayor of Rowland. He was elected in 2021 and is serving his first term. Before becoming mayor, he served on the Rowland Town Council.

Supports expanding and improving the wastewater treatment plant to attract housing development and more manufacturing and business opportunities.

Economy

As mayor, started the foreclosure process on property owners with gross delinquent taxes.

Implemented a program for extensive home repairs for senior citizens, providing up to $40,000 in repairs.

Renovated McCormick Street community park by replacing fencing and repairing basketball and pickleball courts.

Replaced the old children's play area with new play equipment for children ages 2 to 12.

As county commissioner, oversaw the completion of the renovation of the Historic Depot Museum and Event Hall in June of 2023.

Supports the repair and replacement of electrical lines on Main Street.

Supports beautification efforts, such as painting buildings and adding new benches.

As county commissioner, supported a major paving project on four of the heaviest traveled streets in Town.

Public Services

As a state representative, worked to secure funding for the demolition and rebuilding of abandoned buildings in Rowland.

Housing & Urban Development

As mayor, added speed bumps on Martin Luther King Street and Church Street.

As county commissioner, secured funding for the renovation of the wastewater treatment plant.

Supports revitalizing downtown areas to improve public safety and community engagement.

As a county commissioner, secured $250,000 in grant funding for ditch and stream debris removal.

Public Safety

As mayor, secured $2.5 million in grant funding to replace Canal Street sewer lines.

Supports the removal of wood waste debris from the decertified landfill in Town.
