Bob Hasegawa currently serves as the state senator for Washington State Senate District 11. He was first elected in 2012 and is serving his 3rd term. He previously served as house member for Washington State House District 11 from 2005 to 2013. He previously ran for mayor of Seattle in 2017, but did not win.

Bob is a former labor activist who served as secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local 174, the largest trucking industry workers’ union in the Pacific Northwest, and was involved in the national Teamsters for a Democratic Union. He previously worked as a professional commercial truck driver, certified transit operator, and journey-level operating engineer.

Bob is a lifelong resident of the Beacon Hill neighborhood in Seattle. He earned an associate's degree in labor studies from Shoreline Community College, a bachelor's degree in labor relations and organizational and social change from Antioch University, and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Washington.
