Sharif earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Morehouse College and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. 

Sharif previously worked as a staffer for the Pennsylvania Senate, serving as the chief legislative advisor to the Democratic Chair of the Housing and Urban Development Committee.
