Matt Huffman currently serves as a state senator in State Senate District 12. He was elected to this position in 2020 and is serving his 2nd term. He is a former Senate president. He was elected to that position in 2020 and was unable to run for re-election in 2024 due to term limits. He previously served as a state representative in State House District 12. He was elected to this position in 2016 and served for 2 terms. He served as a state representative in State House District 4. He was elected to that position in 2006 and served for 4 terms. He also served as a member of the Lima City Council and as the council president for 8 years.

Matt currently works as a managing member at his father's law firm, Huffman, Kelley, Brock & Gottschalk.

Matt was born and raised in Lima. He holds a bachelor's degree in government from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He is married to his wife, Sheryl, with whom he has 4 children and 9 grandchildren. He is a board member of Quest Academy Community School, where he is also a volunteer attorney. He is a member of member of St. Charles Church.
