William is a lifelong resident of Sidney. He graduated from Lehman Catholic High School and Ball State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science. William earned his law degree from the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law. 

William is the chief assistant prosecutor in the County Prosecutor’s Office. He is also a founding partner of the law firm Hegemann & Zimmerman Co., LPA.
