J. Machelle Sweeting is a civil court judge in New York Municipal Court District 10. She was first elected in 2014.

J. Machelle previously worked as an assistant corporation counsel in the New York City Law Department, where she was a founding attorney of the Special Federal Litigation Unit. She has also served as an assistant district attorney, a law clerk to a Supreme Court judge, an administrative law judge, and an adjunct law professor.

J. Machelle was born and still lives in Harlem. She earned her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, NJ.
