Randolph Record, Candidates line up for Archdale, Trinity city councils

Lewis graduated from Asheboro High School.

Lewis currently works as a part-time driver’s education teacher for the Randolph County School System. He previously worked as a carpentry teacher at Trinity High School.

Lewis W. Dorsett currently serves as the Mayor in City of Archdale. He was first appointed in 2021 and is serving his first full term. He previously served as Councilmember in the City of Archdale from 2000 to 2021.

- The mayor leads the executive branch of local government, presiding over city council meetings, making sure city departments run smoothly, and providing services to citizens. 
- The mayor attends and runs City Council meetings, serving as an important leader for how local laws get set. These laws affect local services, such as Police, City Planning, Parks & Recreation, and Transportation.  
- The Mayor in some circumstances may vote to break a tie in council meetings. They do not have veto power.
