Amy is a lifelong North Carolinian, born in Winston-Salem, who attended the NC School of Science & Math and studied at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill. She is married to Vance, with whom she has 3 adult children, and attends Orange United Methodist Church.

Amy is a pediatrician at Chapel Hill Children's Clinic, where she has worked for 16 years. 

Amy Fowler has served on the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for 1 term. Prior to her role as a county commissioner, Amy was a member of the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Board of Education for 3 years.
