Tim Benton is currently a member of the Bladen County Board of Education. He was first elected in 2014, and served for 1 term before being voted out of office in 2018. He was then elected in 2020, and is serving his second total term and first continuous term for this cycle. He is currently the chair of the board. Tim also served as a Bladenboro City Commissioner from 1988 to 1996, serving for 2 terms.

Tim is currently retired. He previously worked for Bladen County Schools. He also served in the U.S. military.

Tim is from Bladenboro, where he still lives. He graduated from Bladenboro High School, then earned his degree in health & physical education from the University of North Carolina, Pembroke. He also has a master's degree in administration & supervision. He is married. Tim serves as the president of the Bladenboro Rotary Club.
