James holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Shaw University and a master's degree in urban, community and regional planning from Savannah State University. James resides in Pooler, Georgia and is married to his wife. He also serves as a volunteer with 100 BLACK MEN OF SAVANNAH INC.
