Eshé was born in Atlanta. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Spelman College, a master's degree in educational leadership from Georgia State University, and a law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. 

Eshé works as a director at the Southern Education Foundation. She previously worked as a public school teacher and as a program director at Jumpstart and Georgia State University. 

Eshé Collins currently serves on the Board of Education of Atlanta Public Schools in District 6. She was first elected in 2013 and is serving her third term.
