Shelly Simonds is currently the state delegate representing district 94. She was first elected in 2019 and has been in office for two terms. She used to be a member of the Newport News School Board. She was first elected in 2012 and was in office for two terms.

Shelly used to be a teacher. She taught Spanish at Hilton Elementary School

Shelly is from Palo Alto, California. She has a bachelor's degree in international relations and Latin American studies from Bucknell University and a master's degree in communications from Stanford University. She lives with her husband, Paul, and their two children in Newport News.
