David Reid is originally from Rockbridge County, VA. He attended Northeastern State University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with minors in Economics and History. He also went to the National Intelligence University, where he received his Masters of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence. He currently lives with his wife and daughters in Ashburn.

Professional background

David Reid was previously the Chief Strategy Officer at Axiologic Solutions, LLC from 2016 to 2022, and at Dowless & Associates from 2010 to 2015. David founded Rockbridge Consulting, LLC, and worked there from 2014 to 2020. He also served as a Naval Intelligence Officer in the US Navy Reserve from 1988 to 2011.

Political background

David Reid is currently the delegate representing Virginia's 32nd district. He was elected in 2018 and has served 2 terms. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, the Transportation Committee, and the Privileges & Elections Committee. He was the chair of the Campaign Finance Subcommittee from 2020 to 2022.

Energy & the Environment

As a state delegate, voted for a bill that will lower energy bills for Virginian’s by $6-$7 per month by changing the way Virginia’s monopoly energy provider, Dominion Energy, can set prices.

As a state delegate, voted against a bill that would have banned Virginia’s government from banning or restricting the use of natural gas.

As a state delegate, voted for a bill that lowered taxes on groceries from 2.5% to 1%, except for alcohol, tobacco, and prepared hot foods. Diapers and feminine hygiene products were included in the tax decrease.

As a state delegate, voted for a bill that limits the amount of THC in hemp products to 0.3% of the product and 2 milligrams total. Possession of marijuana is decriminalized in Virginia but there is no legal market for sales of THC products.
