Patrick Hope is currently the state delegate representing district 47. He was first elected in 2009 and has been in office for seven terms. He is vice-chair of the behavioral health commission.

Patrick is a professor of government at Marymount University, a professor at Johns Hopkins University, and the executive director of the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance. He used to be the senior director of legislative policy at the American College of Cardiology and legislative counsel for the American College of Physicians.

Patrick is from San Antonio, Texas. He has a bachelor's degree in history from St. Mary's University, a master's degree in congressional studies from the Catholic University, and a law degree from the Catholic University. He lives with his wife and three children in Arlington.
