-  Circuit and Chancery Court Clerks receive, file, and maintain court paperwork for the chancery court, county court, and circuit court. Collectively, these courts cover all criminal cases, civil cases, juvenile court cases, family law, guardianships, wills, and challenges to the constitutionality of state laws. 
- These clerks also issue and keep records of case judgments, issue subpoenas, record all professional licenses, register citizens to vote, and issue marriage licenses. 
- Circuit and Chancery Court Clerks also serve as the clerk for the county board of supervisors, keeping board meeting minutes, issuing checks for the board, and acting as county treasurer and auditor. 
- Some Mississippi court districts have one position called the Circuit and Chancery Court Clerk, while other districts have separate offices called Circuit Court Clerk and Chancery Court Clerk. They are elected to four year terms in partisan elections.
