John Heneghan has been a city council member since 2008. He ran unopposed in his fourth campaign in 2019, was elected as Mayor Pro Tem by his peers, and his current term runs until January 2024.

John has over thirty years experience in regulatory compliance and civil enforcement of the Federal Hazardous Materials and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. He has 25 years of managerial experience overseeing enforcement personnel and implementing a civil enforcement program.

John earned a bachelor's degree in public administration - business law from Roosevelt University, and a strategic management of regulatory & enforcement agencies certificate from Harvard Kennedy School. He also earned an executive education certificate from the High Impact Leadership Program from Loyola University Chicago.
