Tarrance is originally from Grand Prairie, Texas. She has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Central State University and a master's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Tarrance is currently retired. She previously worked as a supervisory special agent criminal investigator and special agent criminal investigator for the Justice Department at the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as a district parole officer at the Texas State Board of Pardons and Parole, and as a detention officer at the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. 

Tarrance previously ran for the Grand Prairie ISD School Board in 2023, but did not win.
