Biography

A native of North Texas, I have lived in Carrollton and Denton County for 32 years. My wife, Susan, and I have three daughters, three sons-in-law, and five grandchildren. We are honored to call Denton County and, in particular, Carrollton home.

Kevin Falconer | Denton County, TX

As a registered architect with a Master’s Degree of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, both from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, I bring a unique set of skills to the position. The Commissioners Court often deals with economic development, transportation, budget oversight, public safety, and working closely with our communities and neighboring counties as we plan for the ongoing growth across our region.

It was an honor to serve as Carrollton Mayor from 2017 to 2022 and, before then, as a council member from 2009-2015. My time with Carrollton enabled me to serve on the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Transportation Council, the Dallas Mobility Coalition, the North Texas Commission, the North Central Texas Emergency Preparedness Planning Council, and the Metroplex Mayor’s Association.

Kevin served as Carrollton mayor from 2017 to 2022. He previously served as a Carrollton council member from 2009 to 2015.

He brought that same fiscal discipline to the Commissioner's Court, fighting for and passing responsible budgets that keep the tax burden on Denton County families as low as possible. Affordablity

As a local businessman, Kevin understands how inflation impacts family budgets and small business owners. On the Commissioner's Court, Kevin is fighting to keep Denton County affordable by cutting unnecessary red tape and consistently voting against wasteful spending. He knows the best way to fight inflation locally is to keep government efficient and let families and businesses keep more of what they earn.

One example of that situation is our Courts Building on McKinney Street which is over capacity. We’ve already relocated our probate courts to temporary facilities, and with the recent addition of a new district court, we’re moving a district court to temporary facilities, too. Additionally, there is no longer sufficient space in the Courts building for judicial support services including the offices of the District Clerk, the County Clerk and the District Attorney.

Expanding the Courts Building would be extremely difficult logistically and it would be very expensive and disruptive to the courts. Alternatively, building a new courts building would be very expensive. As an architect with over forty years of design and construction experience, I understand that in today’s environment it is typically much more cost effective and quicker to buy an existing building and adapt it for reuse than to construct a new building.

Considering that situation, we took the opportunity recently to purchase an office building in Denton – the current Sally Beauty headquarters. We recognized that this well maintained, five story, 200,000-square-foot building at Colorado Blvd. and Brinker Rd. could serve beautifully as our new Civil Courts Building.

Since that purchase, we have been working diligently on the plans to convert the Sally Beauty headquarters into the new Denton County Civil Courts Building.

As a 35-year resident of Carrollton and Denton County, I have seen firsthand the rapid development of our region.

It is important for us to build strong partnerships with our local entities to collectively plan ahead to ensure infrastructure is in place for new development, whether commercial or residential. Together, we also work on funding and building new roads and bridges as we see increased traffic in our area, utilizing our $650 million in bonds for improved transportation.

Kevin Falconer is a native of North Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He lives in Carrollton with his wife, Susan, and they have three daughters.
