Sam Samaripa earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is the commander of the Jesse Samaripa American Legion Post 331 and vice president of the Manor Education Foundation. He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Sam previously served as a Manor Independent School District trustee for 14 years and as a Manor City Council member.

Budget: The District budget deficit needs to be resolved. Funding increases are needed to increase teachers and staff wages, for new hires, to increase student performance, to increase the graduation rate, and to increase security for students and staff. A quality education needs to be provided for all students. Also need to address racism concerns, LGBTQ and gender issues and delay further construction.

We must prioritize balancing the budget, increasing the graduation rate, increasing student test scores, ensuring student and staff safety, fostering greater accountability and improving communications with the community. It’s also essential to attract and retain talented teachers by ensuring competitive salaries and a supportive environment. My long-standing ties to Manor and my extensive experience uniquely position me to help guide our district forward, ensuring our schools meet and exceed the expectations of all families and remain a place where every student can succeed.

There is still important work to be done to strengthen our schools and serve our community. With 14 years of experience on the board of trustees, I have a deep understanding of the district's needs and the challenges we face. Economy

Charter Schools: Charter Schools give parents an option for the education of their children. There are some benefits to charter schools but parents should choose wisely. Manor ISD provides a traditional high school setting, the Manor New Tech High School, and the Manor Early College High School. Funding for charter schools has been a question and charter schools are usually exempt from some rules and regulations.

Parental Input: There should be parental input in book selection but the parental input should be informed and responsible. There can be many opinions regarding this, so all information should be provided to the Texas State Board of Education for final determination. Each district can then choose the books needed in order to provide the best education for all students.

The most pressing issue facing our district is unquestionably the low student test scores. To address this, the district must focus on hiring and retaining the "Best of the Best" across all areas, ensuring that we have the most qualified and dedicated staff in place. But even this may not be enough. We must sponsor a before-school, after-school and summer learning programs to assist those students that need the help. There are many programs that can be contacted such as the ACE 21st Century Community Learning Center funded by the federal government, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, Breakthrough and many others that should be used in order for Manor ISD students to obtain success.
