Shawna graduated from Franklin High School and has lived in Macon County for over 30 years. She has two Associate Degrees in Criminal Justice and Computer Information Systems. Shawna and her husband, Jimmy, have two children.

Shawna is an assistant at the Macon County Clerk of Court office, where she has worked for over 21 years. She previously held internships with the Clerk of Court office, a community service program, and a probation office. 

Shawna is currently the Macon County Clerk of Superior Court. She was first elected in 2022 and re-elected in 2024. She previously ran for Macon County Clerk of Superior Court in 2022 but did not win.

- Probate Judge: Handles 46 types of actions, including managing estates, guardianship proceedings, and appointing personal representatives.
- Court Administrator: Oversees the administration of the court.
- Record Keeper: Files, processes, and maintains all cases and documents submitted to the court.
- Financial Manager: Manages the collection, investment, and distribution of money from court fees and traffic citations.
- Employee Manager: Supervises a team ranging from 5 to over 200 employees.
