David Brake

Keith is the sheriff of Nash County. He previously worked as a deputy sheriff in Nash County.

Keith Stone holds an Associates of Science Degree in Law Enforcement Technology. He also graduated with honors and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration, a Masters Degree in Business Administration, and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Graduate Program. He has attended numerous courses in his tenure as a law enforcement officer. Keith also serves on the Board of Directors for the Nash County Health Department, Bible Badges and Businesses of Nash and Edgecombe County, is a past Board of Director for the Heartsease Volunteer Fire Department, Rocky Mount North Carolina and an active member of the YMCA of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Keith is the sheriff of Nash County. He previously worked as a special agent with the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Agency from 2013 to 2018. Before that, he was a member of the North Carolina Highway Patrol from 1987 to 2012. He started his career in law enforcement in 1984 as a jailer with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. He also serves as a physical fitness instructor for basic law enforcement training at Nash Community College.

As sheriff, implemented the Tar River Regional Task Force to address cross-county drug activity.

Implemented Deputy/Detention Officer/Civilian Employee of the Year awards.

As sheriff, implemented new uniforms and patches to increase employee morale.

- The sheriff is responsible for enforcing the law, managing security in jails and courtrooms. They also oversee daily conditions of the jail and inmates in custody and serve legal documents such as warrants and eviction notices. Their ultimate responsibility is to protect the community.
