In response to a question about the biggest issue facing Nicholasville, Brown said: “People are wanting more to do in the community, and that’s where two things come into play. The downtown that we have is old and dilapidated, and we need to bring it back to life. But also parks and recreation is in need of some dear attention and revitalization.”

Brown described downtown initiatives in response to a question about addressing Nicholasville’s needs: “There are already pieces moving to help these two issues. As far as downtown goes, we have started offering grants for not only business owners but also building owners. This will help get buildings up to code and then allow people to come in and modify their business offerings. With Parks and Rec, we have monies put in place to really give our parks a facelift.”

Advocates for revitalizing Nicholasville's downtown.

As a city commissioner, she said Nicholasville began offering downtown grants to building and business owners for code compliance and business modifications.

Brown described parks plans in response to a question about addressing Nicholasville’s needs: “With Parks and Rec, we have monies put in place to really give our parks a facelift. People want to be able to get out in their own community and do things. By next year we’ll have a renovated pool, a splash pad, and many new playground additions. All of which I couldn’t be more excited about.”

## My Stance on Data Centers
Data Centers may have been around for a while, but there is no reason we need as many as our nation has seen pop up here recently in the last year alone. I will not vote in favor on matters that support the development of a mega data center in Nicholasville, and I would encourage and do highly encourage County Leaders to follow suit when making decisions that have a real impact on our residents here in Jessamine County, Kentucky.

Caitlin Lamb for Nicholasville City Commissioner – Life With Caitie

Supports developing statewide standards for data center regulation.

Residents Over Developers:

• Infrastructure First: I am proposing a Concurrency Requirement – a development cannot be approved unless the necessary infrastructure (roads, schools, etc.) is already in place – for ex.: if the road can’t handle 100 more cars, we don’t build 100 more houses until the roads can handle 100 more houses! (Proposing this Summer!)

• Residents Over Developers – Growth isn’t necessarily negative, but all this unplanned growth has been a nightmare. We need development that respects green space, reduces flooding risks, improves traffic flow, and doesn’t overwhelm our neighborhoods. I want to help make sure future planning benefits residents first, not just the builders/developers.

Preserving our rural areas isn’t just about the aesthetics. It’s about sustaining the character that makes Nicholasville, and Jessamine County as a whole, a place families want to call home. I want to protect some of our green spaces and our local farms from being swallowed up by developers – so the next generation can enjoy the same town we fell in love with.

With so many scams targeting our seniors and families today, I want to find more ways on how the city can host simple, accessible classes that teach us how to spot a phishing attempt or a phone scam before it’s too late – even if we could allow groups focused on this, to use city space to inform citizens of these dangers, that would be a great thing to look into.

Plans to work with police, local groups, and city departments on maintenance, visibility, and youth programs in parks and community areas.

Wants the city to offer accessible classes to help residents identify phishing attempts and phone scams.

• Accessibility/Transparency – Many of you mentioned not always feeling heard or as informed as you all would like to be. As Commissioner, I will push for clear communication, easier access to information, which includes both online and offline efforts. I also want to make it easier for community members to speak during our city commission meetings.

More Transparency:

• Accessible Workshops: I’ll push to live-stream and archive all city workshops so you’re never out of the loop.

• Local & Small Business Growth – This town needs more locally owned businesses to shop from. I want to help make it a smoother process for local businesses to establish and operate in Nicholasville.

Roads and Local Economy:

• Applying Pressure: A “State Road Dashboard” to hold Frankfort/the State accountable for delays on roads and projects, such as US-27 and KY-29. (Will take State cooperation!)
