O'Brian Martin is from Orange County. He has a bachelor's degree in entrepreneurship, innovation and technology management from Virginia Tech. He attended Orange County High School.

O'Brian is a student at Virginia Tech, where he serves as the vice president of strategic affairs. He has worked directly with university leadership and President Tim Sands to develop the Virginia Tech Advantage, an initiative to make higher education more accessible for students. He previously served as the president of DECA Inc., a global career and technical organization for students active in nine countries.

O'Brian is currently a member of the Orange County School Board. He was elected in 2025 and is one of the youngest elected officials in Virginia history.

Supports expanding counseling services and increasing mental health awareness for students.

Said he has a "vested interest in seeing students graduate."
