Lisa Headley is from Brooklyn, New York. She has a bachelor’s degree in human resources management from the City University of New York, Bernard M. Baruch College, and a Juris Doctor degree from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. She lives in Harlem, New York.

Lisa is a judge at the New York City Civil Court, where she has served since 2016. Before her election, she worked for the New York State Unified Court System for over 30 years. She began her career typing decisions for housing and civil court judges. After obtaining her law degree, she became an assistant court attorney and later worked as a court attorney in Housing Court for approximately 14 years. Since taking the bench, she has also served as an Acting Justice of the Family Court in Bronx County and currently presides in Supreme Court - Civil in New York County. In addition to her judicial duties, she has been an adjunct faculty professor since 2019, teaching courses on family law, criminal justice, and prison rehabilitation.
