Eric J. Wursthorn earned a bachelor of arts from Cornell University and a juris doctor degree from New York Law School. He lives in Manhattan, New York.

Eric is a Court Attorney and Referee in Manhattan Surrogate's Court. He previously served as Principal Court Attorney for Justice Lynn Kotler in the New York Supreme Court, Civil Term. 

Eric J. Wursthorn's campaign for New York Civil Court Judge, District 3 is his first entry into politics. He was nominated by the 3rd Municipal Court District Committee of the Manhattan Democrats to run on the Democratic line in the upcoming November 4th General Election for the vacant Civil Court seat in the district created by the State Legislature and Governor Kathy Hochul. The district covers Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, and portions of the Upper West Side and the West Village.

Currently serves as principal court attorney for Justice Lynn Kotler in Supreme Court, New York County, Civil Term.

Serves on the Executive Committee of the LGBTQ+ Law Section, Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Board of the LGBT Bar Association of New York, New York City Bar Association's Delegation, and vice chair of the American Bar Association's International Human Rights Committee.

Community Involvement

- The New York Civil Court has jurisdiction over civil cases involving amounts up to $50,000 and other civil matters referred to it by the Supreme Court.
- It includes a small claims part for informal dispositions of matters not exceeding $10,000 and a housing part for landlord-tenant matters and housing code violations.
- There are 120 judges elected to the Civil Court, but only about 50 sit in it. The remaining judges sit in other courts, such as the Criminal Court or Family Court.
