Jennie is a central Texas native who lives in Round Rock, Texas, with her husband and their two young boys. She was educated in Texas public schools and earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Texas State University. She is the daughter of a Methodist minister and a Vietnam veteran.

Jennie has worked in national healthcare and as a small business owner. She started a national healthcare consulting firm that develops and implements solutions to address mental health, the opioid crisis, and social determinants of health. She has also served on two White House Commissions on behavioral health and the opioid crisis.
