Gregory previously served as an executive director of the Butler County Transportation Improvement District. He also worked as a Department of Development Services manager at the Butler County Engineer's Office. 

Gregory Wilkens currently serves as the Butler County Engineer. He was elected in 2001 and is serving his 5th term. 

As County Engineer, oversaw the construction of the Butler County Veterans Highway (SR 129) that connected the City of Hamilton and surrounding townships to I-75.
