Leroy grew up in South Queens. He attended Jamaica High School and the University of Bridgeport. He attends Saint Albans the Martyr Episcopal Church. He is married with two children.

Leroy Comrie was first elected to serve as a state senator for district 14 in 2014. He is in his fifth term in office. He previously served on the New York City Council and as president of the local Community School Board.
