Woodson earned a bachelor's degree in economic and business administration from Hollins University and has also studied at the University of Sydney in Australia. She is married to her husband William, and together they have 3 children. They live in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte, NC. She is a life-long Episcopalian who served on the Vestry at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Concord.

Woodson is the owner of Woodson Bradley Real Estate and previously worked with firms such as Allen Tate, Re/Max, Keller Williams, and EXP. Early in her career, she worked as an elementary teacher through a Rotary Service Project in Lucea Bay, Jamaica, and served as a long term substitute teacher. She has served as the Mecklenburg County Democratic Precinct Chair for Precinct 140.
