Nasif received an associate degree from the University of Florida and a bachelor's and master's degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Nasif is a former Air Force Combat Pilot. He is also a businessman who was the first African American to build and operate a Burger King franchise in Charlotte. Additionally, he has experience in restaurant management.
