Mark attended Davie County High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in business and criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is married to his wife, with whom he has children and grandchildren. He volunteers as a baseball coach for Davie Little League and as a Bible Fellowship teacher at Blaise Church. 

Mark works as an insurance consultant at the Whitley-Reavis Insurance company. He is also the president of a religious non-profit organization, P413 Baseball and Softball. He previously served as president of MSJ Financial and Jones Insurance Services.
