Linton graduated with an associate’s degree in law enforcement from Thomas University. He acquired certifications in leadership and management from the Carl Vincent Institute with the University of Georgia and Columbus State University. Deloach served as a volunteer fireman and first responder with the Highway 144 Fire Department. He is married, and has three daughters.

Linton held the title of Warden/Superintendent for eight years before retiring with 30 years of service for the Georgia Department of Correction.

Appling County Sheriffs Office, Meet Sheriff Mark Melton

Mark received a degree in criminal justice from Valdosta State University. He is marred and has one daughter. Melton is a member of the Baxley Church of God and works with their youth group.

Mark has 38 years of overall law enforcement experience.

The County Sheriff is an elected official who acts as the chief law enforcement officer in their county. They are tasked with operating the county jails, keeping courtrooms secure during trials, and keeping the public safe through proper law enforcement. Each Sheriff's Office in Georgia may look a little different in how they hire and run their teams, but all County Sheriffs have the same duties. These duties include the following:

- Serving civil papers
