ATR: Bobby Hancock-Harris Announces Candidacy

Bobby graduated from Berean College, majoring in specialized ministries, and he received his GED from South Georgia Technical College. Bobby graduated with honors from the Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and became a member of Pi Sigma Eta National Morticians fraternity. He is married with 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Bobby is currently the CEO and general manager of Hancock Funeral Home. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Previously, he was registered with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Department of Private Detective/Private Security Agencies Division.

Bobby Hancock-Harris

Darrell is a lifelong resident of Sumter County and a graduate of Americus High School. He received an associate's degree in funeral service and mortuary science from Ogeechee Technical College, a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Morehouse College, and a second bachelor's degree in mathematics from Albany State University. Darrell is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Darrell is the Chief Financial Officer of Barnum Funeral Home.

Darrell D. Sabbs Jr

- The County Coroner runs the Coroner’s Office, which is responsible for determining the cause, manner, and circumstance of death under the Georgia Death Investigation Act.  
- Deaths that they are responsible for investigating include violent deaths, suicides, sudden deaths, deaths unattended by a physician, suspicious deaths, deaths of children younger than seven years old, executions, deaths of inmates, and deaths of people admitted to a hospital unconscious. 
- The Coroner is responsible for pronouncing someone dead, and for releasing remains to be cremated, transported to another state, or autopsied. 
- All Georgia Coroners are required to attend a 40 hour course at the Georgia State Patrol Training Center and receive 24 hours of in services training on death investigation procedures each year. 
- Coroners are elected to four year terms in nonpartisan elections.
