Mississippi Lieutenant Governor

• School Curriculum — The Lt. Governor appoints two out of the nine members of the State Board of Education, who are responsible for setting the curriculum and other policies for Mississippi’s schools.

• Policing — The Lt. Governor has broad power in the Senate, controlling which bills advance and are voted on. For example, Mississippi's Senate recently passed a bill to give the state government control over policing in Jackson, Mississippi.
