Mississippi Insurance Commissioner

• Healthcare Costs — The Insurance Commissioner appoints four members of the nine member Mississippi Comprehensive Health Insurance Risk Pool Association, which makes health and accident insurance available to citizens who can’t get healthcare because of their health conditions.

• Public Safety — The Insurance Commissioner is responsible for making sure that buildings are constructed up to the standards of the state fire code, which can determine the impact of fires on both property and the community's safety.
