Polly is 92 years old and moved to Sharpsburg in 1999, captivated by the historic home she now resides in. For the past 17 years, she has maintained a newsletter that focuses on local events. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and education from the University of South Carolina and a specialist degree in education from Georgia State University.

Polly is a retired teacher, previously teaching at both Newnan and East Coweta high schools.

Polly Garlington was formerly a city council member, representing Post 4. She was first elected in 2016 and was in office for two terms.

Wants the old playground in Staley Park to be reinstalled.

Believes that council members need to be held more accountable for the number of council meetings missed.

Plans to clarify the town ordinances dealing with conflict of interest and add language about absenteeism.

Wants more residents to be involved in making decisions about the town by serving on boards and commissions.

Suggested that the city might need to start considering providing insurance to its employees as an effort to support employee retention in December 2022.
