Mike was born in Macon. He has a bachelor's degree from Mercer University and a law degree from John Marshall law school. He lives with his wife, Jeri. He has a son and a grandson.

Michael is an attorney with his own practice, and he is soon retiring. He used to be in the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam. He then worked in aviation and got his pilot license.
