Additionally, my advocacy work with organizations like DeKalb NCNW Section, the Stone Mountain Action Coalition, and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Community Commission on Policy Review underscores my dedication to the community, public safety, education and social justice.

What would be your top priority upon winning office?

My primary focus will be on addressing three key issues: economic development, public safety and housing. I will work to increase the availability of affordable housing through policies that encourage developers to include affordable units and expand rental assistance programs. Additionally, I will prioritize attracting new businesses, supporting local enterprises, and creating job opportunities to stimulate economic growth and improve residents' livelihoods. Enhancing public safety will involve fostering partnerships between law enforcement and community organizations, and addressing the underlying causes of crime.

What actions would you take to enhance government transparency and trust in government?

As an executive committee member, community leader and advocate, I take great pride in upholding my fiduciary responsibilities (the duty of loyalty and the duty of care) in civic organizations and will use the same tactics to promote ethics and transparency within government. As commissioner, I will be committed to ensure transparency and build trust in the DeKalb County government. I'll host regular town hall meetings across different neighborhoods to directly engage with constituents, listen to their concerns, and provide updates on government activities.

Do you believe Georgia elections are secure and what additional security measures can be taken?

I believe Georgia's election process is secure. However, to enhance security, we can implement measures such as upgrading voting machines to ones with verifiable paper trails, conducting regular audits of election results, providing cybersecurity training for election officials, and improving voter registration processes to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud. Additionally, increasing transparency in the election process and ensuring that all eligible voters have equal access to the polls are crucial steps in bolstering election security and maintaining public trust in our democratic system.

What is government's responsibility to ensure affordable housing?

The government has a responsibility to address affordable housing challenges by implementing various measures to support residents in accessing adequate housing options. These actions may include implementing policies to stabilize rental prices, and offering assistance programs for low-income individuals and families. Additionally, investing in housing preservation and homeownership initiatives can contribute to improving housing affordability and accessibility for communities across the spectrum of income levels.

Do you believe public access to public records is sufficient in your jurisdiction and, if not, what steps do you support to remedy that?

I believe that public access to public records in our jurisdiction could be improved. To address this, I support implementing measures to streamline the process of accessing public records, such as creating a centralized online portal where residents can easily request and obtain information. Additionally, I advocate for increased transparency in government operations by proactively publishing more public records online, including budgets, meeting minutes, and departmental reports.
